Slippery Slope Records

Why AI Music?

Slippery Slope Records exists because of a simple, uncomfortable truth: I had things I needed to say, and no real way to say them.

I'm not a singer. I'm not a musician. I never learned an instrument, never had the ear, never had the voice. But I kept carrying around lyrics and melodies I couldn't get out any other way: lines about fatherhood, exhaustion, injustice, love, grief, and the particular ache of watching the news and feeling like nothing you say matters anyway. AI gave me a way to actually finish those thoughts, instead of leaving them as notes in my phone that no one would ever hear.

I want to be completely transparent about that from the start: nearly every song on this site was made using AI music tools. The words started as mine, my own arguments with myself, my own attempts to make sense of things. The vocals, the instrumentation, the arrangements came from AI, guided and re-worked by me, sometimes dozens of times, until a song finally sounded like what I was hearing in my head. The one exception is Rosewood Drive, a real band from my early twenties that I was part of. There, AI was used to restore and finish songs from an old demo tape, not to invent them from nothing. More on that below.

I know this is a polarizing way to make music, and I don't take that lightly. This was never about a music career, and it was never about money. It's been about catharsis: giving shape to the voices and calls to action I couldn't otherwise get out of my head. Some of these songs are angry. Some are tender. Some are about people close to me, and at least one is about someone I never met but couldn't stop thinking about.

Three very different artists have come out of this project so far: Chase Liberty, Amy Davis, and Rosewood Drive. Each one carries a different part of what I wanted to say, in a sound I never could have made on my own. I hope you'll take a listen, read the story behind each one, and know exactly what you're hearing when you do.
